Orange essence

Here are 5 easy ways to get the most from orange oil essence. This is an essential oil extracted from the rind of the orange fruit. It’s referred to as ‘essential’ as it contains the essence of the plant’s fragrance which gives it it’s unique identity.

Having spent some time looking into the subject, there appears to be many benefits from applying or ingesting the vapours of orange oil.

Here’s some of what it can do for you and where you can get it:

1. Lift your mood

If you’re feeling a bit down, get some orange essence oil and a diffuser to have an aromatherapy experience.


Change the atmosphere of your living or working space by introducing the freshness from orange essence.

Here I could bore you with the chemistry of how it will reduce the secretion of this and increase your ability to do that. All of which will lift your mood and make you want to do what ever it is that you have to do.

Instead let’s just simply say this.

Pleasant smells command an air of uncomplicated relaxation.

Misting the air around you from an aroma humidifier or reed-diffuser also helps to take away the dryness that tends to cause dry skin and cracked lips.

 

2. Use it as an antiseptic

When you get a cut or scratch, any of the citrus oils can substitute for a tube of antiseptic. Dab some on the injured area to give it a clean. It will sting a bit but this usually indicates that your doing some good. If it’s hurting you then it’s killing the bacteria that are trying to start an infection.

3. Orange essence for relieving hay fever

If you suffer from summer allergies and get a bunged-up nose with itching eyes, take a sniff from a small bottle of orange essence. This will help to relieve the symptoms and give you that fresh orange smell.

4. For oral hygiene

Some people use orange essence as part of a mouth-wash routine by mixing a solution of ½ teaspoon of salt 6 drops of orange essence into a cup of warm water. Gargling with this will help to clean the mouth and help reduce any inflammation of the gums.

 

5. Natural hand cleaner

If it’s good enough to swish around in your mouth, why not use it as a hand cleaner?

Dribble a few drops into the palm of your hand and rub both hands together to get it all over. This should cleans away any cold-causing germs that you will have picked up from the last handshake or door-handle interaction.

You’ll also get a nice whiff of orange – who wouldn’t want that?
